What is Laminate Flooring?

Laminate flooring is a multi-layered, durable, and versatile flooring solution perfect for various residential and commercial spaces. Composed of four key components, it offers both functionality and a contemporary aesthetic:

• Transparent, wear-resistant overlay: This top layer protects against scratches, stains, fading, household chemicals and even burns, making it ideal for high-traffic areas. The layer is formed by laminating multiple layers of melamine resin onto the HDF core board under high pressure and heat. The surface is finished with a wood or tile texture that is known as ‘registered-embossed’ – harmonising perfectly with the design.
• Design layer: This layer creates the visual appeal of your floor, featuring high-resolution photographs of real wood or tiles, utilising highly sophisticated printing techniques and finished with melamine resin. This process provides a remarkably realistic and natural appearance.
• Moisture-resistant glued HDF core board: This high-density fibreboard core forms the heart of the laminate, offering exceptional strength, stability, and resistance to moisture, ensuring long-lasting performance. This is a re-composed wood-fibre board which allows use of all parts of the tree.
• Balancing layer: This backing layer ensures dimensional stability, preventing warping or cupping when properly installed by our flooring contractors in Leicestershire.
